Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sleep Technologist to join our team at Dartmouth Health. As a key member of our sleep center staff, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders under the general supervision of the clinical director or designee.

Responsibilities
  • Collects, analyzes, and integrates patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs.
  • Determines final test parameters and procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.
  • Follows sleep center protocols related to sleep studies, explains procedures, and orients patients for in-lab or out-of-center sleep testing.
  • Applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted standards and performs routine PAP interface fitting and desensitization.
  • Follows procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data and implements appropriate interventions during studies.
  • Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, and completes and verifies documentation.
  • Explains pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures to patients and responds to procedural-related inquiries.
  • Scores sleep/wake stages and clinical events according to center-specific protocols and generates accurate reports.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of an accredited educational program in polysomnography or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of prior polysomnography experience required.
  • Ability to use good judgment and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Able to deal appropriately with emergency medical situations and demonstrate effective written and spoken communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and basic computer skills required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy and recognize and observe privacy and confidentiality.
Required Licensure/Certifications
  • Certified in and ability to maintain certification in BLS.
  • Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
