Patient Care Associate II 36 hrs/nights Observation Unit

The Patient Care Assistant II plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the smooth operation of the Observation Unit. As a key member of the healthcare team, this individual will work under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse to deliver high-quality patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care activities, including taking vital signs, assisting patients with daily living tasks, and performing non-clinical tasks such as acting as a receptionist and coordinating equipment.
- Interact with patients, families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary personnel, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure safe patient care and efficient unit operations.
- Perform essential functions, including preparing patient rooms for admission, orienting patients and families to the unit, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, take vital signs, and perform other tasks as assigned by the Registered Nurse.
- Document patient data in a timely manner and maintain accurate records.
- Contribute to the plan of care through effective communication with the Registered Nurse and observe and report changes in patients' conditions.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures, transport patients and equipment, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Act as a liaison between the unit and other departments, ordering supplies and equipment as needed.
- CPR training is required, and phlebotomy training and experience are preferred.
- Must be able to speak and understand written and oral English communication.
- High school graduate or equivalent is required, and six months of experience as a Nursing Assistant or completion of the NWH Patient Care Assistant Training Program is preferred.
