Job DescriptionThe Physics Division at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Research Physicist to join our team in the High Energy Density Physics group. As a Research Physicist, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that aim to advance our understanding of the behavior of matter at extreme conditions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and conducting experiments to investigate the properties of high-energy-density materials
- Collaborating with scientists and engineers to develop new experimental techniques and instruments
- Analyzing data and drawing conclusions based on your findings
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in physics, with expertise in high-energy-density physics, computational simulations, or related fields. Additionally, you should possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently and make decisions under limited supervision.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Ph.D. in Physics or a related field
- Experience with experimental design, data analysis, and simulation software
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or Fortran
