Purpose and Scope

The Radiography Specialist is responsible for evaluating and interpreting radiographs (X-rays) of castings to ensure they meet customer specifications and company standards. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex radiographic images.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret radiographs to determine the quality of the casting and identify any defects or discontinuities.
  • Check radiographs for proper sensitivity, density, and coverage.
  • Mark problem areas on parts needing repair and route them for repair.
  • Ensure proper radiograph filing and storage.
  • Perform equipment calibrations and checks as needed.
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
  • Identify and report safety problems.
Requirements
  • Advanced radiographer skills and experience with nickel-based castings.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to read, follow, and interpret technical specifications.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Training and Certification

Training will be provided on the job, and certification must be achieved and maintained through various written and performance-based exams.
