Job Summary

Zoo New England is seeking a reliable and trustworthy Seasonal Security Officer to join our team. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our visitors, staff, collection, and property.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures, reporting any violations to your supervisor.
  • Maintain a highly visible patrol of zoo grounds using the Morse Watchmen System.
  • Issue and maintain employee IDs.
  • Write clear and concise incident reports and complete daily activity logs.
  • Escort or drive a motor vehicle to transport money and valuables, preventing theft and ensuring safe delivery.
  • Follow all departmental policies and procedures, as well as respond to emergencies.
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Assist guests and staff as needed.
  • Report safety and fire hazards to the Security Manager or Site Security Supervisor.
  • Participate in departmental and zoo-wide training programs.
  • Lock and unlock buildings or gates as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the Security Supervisor or Security Manager.
Requirements
  • Dependability, trustworthiness, and reliability.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow directions and make sound judgments.
  • Remain alert at all times while on duty.
  • Understanding of two-way radio systems.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control in all situations.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Reliable means of communication for emergencies.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
