Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team at J.J. McDonnell & Co. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and fire/life safety systems, as well as performing routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain building systems, including HVAC/R systems, dock levelers, material handling equipment, and sanitation systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities, including forklifts, trash compactors, and refrigeration systems.
  • Read, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems and controls.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on infrastructure and equipment, including HVAC/R systems, dock levelers, and material handling equipment.
  • Support outside plant operations, including cleanliness, snow removal, landscaping, and line striping.
  • Assist with manpower shortages in other areas of the department.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and schedule as needed.
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures, including LOTO, PPE, GMP, and SOPs.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of products associated with the maintenance department.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP/FDA/USDA/BRC procedures and enter associated data into CMMS.
Requirements
  • Progressive practical knowledge and experience in similar industries or positions.
  • Two to five years of progressively responsible, related experience in a position of comparable scope and size to J.J. McDonnell & Co.
  • Working knowledge of a computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to transfer attention from one task to another frequently without affecting performance.
Working Conditions

The work environment is mostly indoors in the warehouse environment, with occasional outdoor work in various weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid, hot, cold, and snow conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to loud.
