Position Summary:
The Service Technician is tasked with delivering exceptional service and support to TARGAN's poultry hatchery clientele. This role demands proficiency in maintaining, repairing, testing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and rectifying issues with electro-mechanical chick vaccination and other integrated automated systems. The primary duties include performing maintenance and urgent repairs on all TARGAN equipment installed at customer facilities. The technician must leverage their mechanical expertise and effective communication skills to collaborate with customer supervisors, production staff, and fellow technicians on intricate challenges, ensuring ongoing customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine and scheduled preventive maintenance on all assigned TARGAN systems.
- Provide electrical and mechanical support, executing emergency repairs as necessary.
- Participate in after-hours support and repairs within the designated territory.
- Adhere to the standardized operations and processes of the Targeted Vaccine Delivery System (TVDS) in your assigned area.
- Implement and oversee the TARGAN training program for customer employees responsible for operating our systems.
- Assist in executing the TARGAN system evaluation and performance program.
- Manage system and service-related communications within assigned customer hatcheries.
- Complete all relevant TARGAN reporting forms and procedures, including visit scheduling, maintenance records, troubleshooting outcomes, customer contacts, parts usage, training, and vehicle maintenance.
- Provide feedback and support to TARGAN Engineering and Bio Research teams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree in Electro/Mechanical Systems or a related field, or a bachelor's degree in poultry science or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- 1-5 years of relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.

- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues within processes.

- Ability to produce and submit accurate service and expense reports in a timely manner.
- Proficient in interpreting blueprints, machine drawings, and electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Skilled in using a variety of common power and hand tools.
- Competent in utilizing a laptop, tablet, and related software.
- Commitment to safety and efficiency, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Working Conditions:
- Work primarily occurs in a commercial poultry hatchery, which may present potential hazards.
- Exposure to elevated heat and humidity levels is common.
- Availability for on-call or after-hours work beyond a standard 40-hour work week to respond to customer emergencies.
- Ability to lift over 25 pounds.
- Willingness to travel extensively as required.
