Job Title:

Surgical Technology Program Instructor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified Surgical Technology Program Instructor to join our team at Lake Land College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in discipline areas as assigned by the respective division chair.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies, and programs of Lake Land College, adhering to the procedures outlined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
  2. Prepare instructional materials, including a course syllabus, using the syllabus template provided, and follow course outlines approved by the College.
  3. Deliver instruction to students in modalities assigned by the division chair and approved by the Vice President for Academic Services.
  4. Submit required documentation, including student midterm attendance rosters, final course grades, and other information as requested or required by the division chair.
  5. Be available to students and consider the general and special needs of each student, responding to inquiries in a timely manner and advising, counseling, and assisting students in accomplishing their course and program goals.
  6. Remain current with content, technology, and instructional methods and strategies in the discipline.
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of the community college philosophy, including its unique ties to the workforce and the district.
  8. Collaborate with program coordinators or other faculty members to facilitate achievement of course goals and objectives.
  9. Maintain regular communication with the division chair, especially with regard to absences and/or cancelling class.
Requirements:
  • Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
  • Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Experience:

A minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.

Knowledge and Skills:

Demonstrate ability to learn the Lake Land College information systems and processes, maintain all professional credentials required to teach in the area of discipline, and possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, ability to adapt instruction to various academic levels and learning styles, superior command of the English language, and expertise with instructional technology.

Open-minded, innovative, enthusiastic, positive attitude, and adaptive to new teaching technologies.

Compensation:

$785 per ECH
