Job Title: Wellness Coach I

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wellness Coach I to join our team. As a key member of our wellness team, you will be responsible for building personalized relationships with members, overseeing the wellness area, and ensuring a positive member experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Clean and maintain equipment, report any repair needs, and enforce wellness center policies.
  • Monitor the wellness center floor, assist members as needed, and promote a safe and healthy environment.
  • Stay updated on current issues regarding wellness programs, promote and evaluate their effectiveness, and ensure a high level of service to participants.
  • Maintain branch and association certifications, including CPRO and ACE continuing education courses.
  • Secure a substitute coach in a timely manner if unable to work an assigned shift and attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have 6+ months of experience in a health- or wellness-related field.
  • Must obtain/maintain full access to Y-Exchange and YISE, and possess current CPRO/AED and O-2 certifications.
  • Knowledge of general weightlifting and health/wellness concepts, and the ability to demonstrate use of wellness-related equipment.
  • Strong human relations skills, ability to facilitate class interaction and socialization, and a high degree of customer service skills.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in exercise science, physical education, exercise psychology, behavioral science, or a health-related field.
Ergonomics:

Sitting, bending, stooping, standing, 15% repetitive keyboard work, demonstrating equipment use, lifting to 45 pounds, and exposure to noise levels at an average of 90 decibels over an eight-hour day.
