Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with physician orders, utilizing therapeutic procedures to address deficits in self-care skills and daily living abilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring quality and efficiency in occupational therapy delivery.
  • Manage the delivery of care, delegating components to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants under supervision.
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary team, providing support and information within the area of occupational therapy.
  • Review patient information, conducting thorough functional assessments and documenting progress.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive plans of care, assessing patient needs and abilities.
  • Comply with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines, recording patient progress and revising treatment plans as needed.
  • Document the course of treatment, including discharge summaries, and instruct Assistants in treatment procedures.
  • Orient patients to program services and treatment procedures, informing them of potential risks.
  • Work with nursing staff, patients, and families to maximize patient use of functional abilities.
  • Establish and instruct patients and families in exercises and therapeutic procedures to be continued following discharge.
  • Assist in the referral process, maintaining current knowledge of community resources.
  • Attend and participate in rehabilitation team conferences, department meetings, and quality improvement activities.
Requirements
  • Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy or Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and five years of direct practice experience.
  • Current license/certification in the state of practice.
  • Prefer current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
  • Demonstrated competency in applying occupational therapy principles, methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adequate computer skills for required job duties and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess patient needs and develop comprehensive plans of care.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
