Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct patient care, triage patients, and develop patient plans of care. The RN will also administer medications, perform lab tests, and provide patient education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Triage patients, verify allergies, symptoms, and pharmacy information.
- Develop patient plans of care, including assessment, re-assessment, implementation, planning, and evaluation.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Prioritize and organize patient care.
- Document patient information accurately and timely.
- Observe, record, and report patient reactions to medications and treatments.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during treatment, examination, and testing.
- Review lab and diagnostic test results with patients.
- Provide patient education on diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and health maintenance.
- Perform blood draws, urine dips, rapid streps, influenza, mono, CMP, CBC, cardiac inhalation treatments, start IVs, bladder catheters, injections, EKGs, dressing changes, and splinting.
- Handle specimens, perform lab testing, and verify results.
- Participate in quality control and proficiency testing.
- Assist in ordering reagents, lab supplies, and medical supplies.
- Clean surgical instruments and package them for sterilization.
- Audit charts for missing charges and diagnosis.
- Minimum of Associate's Degree required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility or private physician office.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Intermediate computer knowledge: uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
