Job Title: Field Data Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Data Analyst to join our team at Shift5, a rapidly growing scale-up specializing in cybersecurity, predictive maintenance, and compliance for operational technology (OT) systems.

About Shift5

Shift5 is the observability platform for onboard operational technology (OT). Our mission is to help our customers' fleets run smarter and safer by accessing and democratizing the volumes of onboard OT data generated by transportation and freight fleets, and defense fleets and weapon systems.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with customers and internal teams to create strong customer relationships and conduct in-depth investigations of large and complex data sets.
  • Identify new areas for analysis based on customer feedback and apply expertise in analysis, experimentation, and data visualization to produce insights for stakeholders.
  • Communicate customer needs and feedback to partner with Field Engineering, Data Science, Product Managers, Data Engineering, and Software Engineering teams to solve problems at scale.
  • Support building customer vignettes and success stories, and inform, influence, and execute new strategies and tactics using analysis to support customer long-term goals.
  • Explain trends across data sources, potential opportunities for growth or improvement, and data caveats for descriptive, diagnostic, predictive (including forecasting), and prescriptive data analyses.
  • Provide customer enablement to expand their analytic capabilities and drive greater adoption of the Shift5 platform.
  • Foster and manage successful relationships with senior executive stakeholders, platform maintainers, and others - managing expectations, and achieving successful outcomes.
  • Continually demonstrate a growth mindset, acquiring new skills while maintaining your development and adaptability.
Qualifications
  • BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, MIS, or equivalent practical experience required.
  • Proven experience doing quantitative analysis to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in languages such as SQL and platforms such as GitLab for modeling and querying data in an effective and resilient manner to produce queries, reports, and presentations of findings.
  • Experience with Splunk in addition to another DB technology such as DataBricks preferred.
  • Proficiency in modern BI tools such as Looker, Metabase, etc. for producing insights and findings to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Astute written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to consistently and cogently address our customers' needs.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented culture, delivering a significant individual contribution while collaborating with and strengthening teammates.
  • Experience integrating API-based commercial software products.
  • Experience with integration of cloud-based services with internally hosted solutions.
  • Must be able to work onsite while backed by remotely distributed teams and should expect up to 10% travel to attend Shift5 internal team travel, and one-off events.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Active US Government Top Secret security clearance.
Compensation & Benefits
