The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at West Virginia University is seeking to appoint two tenure-track Assistant Professors. We are particularly interested in candidates who have innovative research programs that focus on the fundamental mechanisms of human disease.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program
- Participate in departmental teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels
- Meet minimum qualifications, including a terminal degree in the biomedical and biological sciences or related fields, at least one year's postdoctoral experience in a related field, and high-quality publications
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine offers a collaborative, multifaceted academic environment with active research in the areas of metabolism, RNA biology, structural biology, visual & sensory biology, and cell biology. Faculty are backed by substantial salary support. The department maintains a highly regarded faculty mentoring program to help advance the careers of junior faculty. Further, successful candidates may be eligible to participate in an NIH-funded, mentored career development program at WVU and may apply for funding from the Visual Sciences Center of Biomedical Research Excellence.
