Job Summary

This position requires a customer service-oriented Librarian to perform administrative, management, and professional work in the management, planning, organizing and supervision of the activities of the City of Kerrville, TX library system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collection Development and Management
    • Develop and implement collection development policies and procedures to ensure the library's collection meets the needs of the community.
    • Monitor and evaluate the library's collection to ensure it is relevant and up-to-date.
    • Collaborate with library staff to develop and implement collection development plans.
  • Public Services and Administration
    • Provide leadership and supervision to library staff to ensure excellent customer service and a positive library experience.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the library's operations are efficient and effective.
    • Collaborate with library staff to develop and implement programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
  • Community Engagement and Outreach
    • Develop and implement strategies to engage with the community and promote the library's services and programs.
    • Collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to develop and implement programs and services that meet the needs of the community.
  • Financial Management
    • Develop and implement budgets to ensure the library's financial resources are used effectively and efficiently.
    • Monitor and evaluate the library's financial performance to ensure it is meeting its goals and objectives.
  • Professional Development
    • Stay current with trends and best practices in library management and services.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance leadership and management skills.
Requirements
  • Masters of Library Science degree, plus at least four years of experience in a public service-oriented library operation, including at least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience with library management software and systems is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Texas driver's license.
