Pump Technician

In the Rust Belt, there is a high demand for skilled Pump Mechanics to install, maintain, and repair pumps and systems in various industrial settings. As a Pump Mechanic with Fluid Sealing International (FSI), you will be responsible for ensuring that pumps operate efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and extending the life of the equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Installation & Setup: Install and commission different types of pumps and associated equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• Maintenance: Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, seals, bearings, and other related components.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic issues in pumps, identifying and fixing problems related to vibration, cavitation, leakage, or inadequate flow.
• Repair: Disassemble, inspect, and repair or replace defective parts such as impellers, shafts, bearings, seals, and gaskets.
• Alignment & Balancing: Ensure proper alignment of pumps and motor shafts, and balance rotating assemblies for optimal performance.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed maintenance records, work orders, and service reports.
• Compliance: Follow safety regulations and company policies while working on equipment, and adhere to industry standards such as OSHA and MSHA.
• Testing: Perform pressure, flow, and performance tests to ensure pumps are operating at required specifications.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or GED; vocational training or certification in mechanical, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a pump mechanic or similar role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, manuals, and technical drawings.
• Hands-on experience with power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
• Mechanical certification (preferred).
• Valid driver's license (required).
• OSHA/MSHA safety certification (a plus).
Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
