Veterinary Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Banfield Pet Hospital. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of care for our patients and their owners.
Key Responsibilities- Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing quality veterinary care
- Advocate for pets and educate clients on pet health and wellness
- Ensure a safe and effective hospital environment
- Perform or prepare procedures as needed, complete preparatory work, and monitor hospitalized or surgical pets
- Maintain accurate and complete medical charts
- Assist with surgery and utilize technical skills to the fullest
- Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital
- Leadership and action-oriented skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
- Strong problem-solving and client service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
This position requires the ability to work at a computer for long periods of time, be confident around pets, and work in a moderately high-noise environment. The associate must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as manipulate up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The associate is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.
