Job Title: Senior RF Systems Engineer

Join the Georgia Tech Research Institute's Information and Communications Laboratory (ICL) Communications Systems and Spectrum Division (CSSD) as a Senior RF Systems Engineer. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineer to support the development of innovative adaptive communications and spectrum learning systems.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work with a team to perform advanced system and algorithm development using established systems engineering approaches. They will develop solutions to satisfy system requirements and perform functions related to all aspects of radar system design, including the development of the complete architectural design of radar systems, investigation and development of new algorithms, and the design of sensor modes that maximize sensor performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop requirements and direct others to perform design and theory research and lab testing tasks as task lead
  • Mentor others in developing methods and expertise in broad areas of design, theory, and testing as task lead
  • Document work of design, theory, and test in written and presentation form as team lead
  • Primary lead on the development of whitepapers and proposals in research areas of expertise
  • Primary lead on sponsors and potential sponsors engagement
  • Primary author of entire technical reports/presentations of projects, journal articles, and conference presentations
Requirements:
  • Bachelors/Masters degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or a related field
  • 9 year's experience developing and testing RF platforms and systems including HF, VHF, UHF, SHF and EHF
  • The candidate should be familiar with RF concepts such as channel modeling, RF propagation loss, phase matching, tuning RF designs
  • Experience with Matlab or other RF modeling and simulation tools
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics or a related field
  • 10 years practical experience in modeling and design with RF systems
  • Familiarity with novel interference mitigation approaches including auto-tune filters (ATF) and other techniques
  • Experience developing approaches for full-duplex RF communications for high-bandwidth, low-latency and high-throughput applications
  • RF test and evaluation experience and a deep understanding of common tools such as VNA, RSA, SigGen, etc
  • Relevant experience in applied research and development
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a dynamic team environment
Travel Requirements:

10% - 25% travel
