Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at the San Antonio River Authority. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining our wastewater infrastructure using unskilled manual labor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate equipment and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on sewage treatment plant equipment.
  • Collect wastewater samples and run DO, CL2 residual, PH, settleable solids, and preliminary analytical tests.
  • Assist in the calibration of flow measuring meters.
  • Operate River Authority vehicles, tractors, power tools, gasoline mowers, and a variety of hand tools.
  • Assist operators in monitoring and maintaining Ultraviolet systems.
  • Clean water supply filters.
  • Keep grounds clean by picking up trash and debris.
  • Respond to wastewater plant and contract plant emergencies.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and less than one year of progressively responsible experience in wastewater operations.
  • Valid Class "D" Wastewater Operator License at the time of hire.
  • Ability to function in a principle-based organization with a culture built on character and SARA Core Values of Stewardship, Integrity, and Excellence.
Work Environment

This position requires working in a variety of environments, including office settings, outdoor environments, and construction sites. The employee must be able to function in a fast-paced environment and work effectively in a team setting.
