Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Off-Park Ranger to join our team at the State of South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting with the overall operation and maintenance of a State Park, including supervising specific areas, performing administrative duties, and ensuring a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with operational activities at Hunting Island State Park, including supervising retail sales, day use areas, camping, cabins, and other overnight accommodations or special use facilities.
  • Perform administrative duties in accordance with department policy and procedures, including planning long and short-term goals.
  • Collect and account for revenue, produce required reports, and maintain accurate records.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on grounds, buildings, and equipment to meet established standards, ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Improve public relation activities, educational and recreational activities as required, and enforce park rules, regulations, and policies within authority.
  • Interpret the cultural and natural resources of the State Park Service to park visitors.
  • Practice and promote teamwork within the State Park Service, throughout the agency, and with external agency stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Park Management or related field with 1 year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license.
