About This Role
Pearlman Brown & Wax LLP seeks a skilled Associate Attorney to represent clients in workers' compensation law cases. As part of our in-house training program, the selected candidate will gain comprehensive knowledge of workers' compensation law and develop expertise in representing clients in court and managing litigation.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
Key responsibilities include:
- Representing clients in California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board proceedings and appellate matters.
- Conducting thorough research using Lexis-Nexis to inform case strategies.
- Drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Preparing for and attending court hearings and trials, presenting evidence and arguments effectively.
- Collaborating with clients to understand their needs and provide expert legal guidance.
- Negotiating settlements on behalf of clients when suitable.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation in line with our firm's protocols.
- Staying informed about changes in laws and regulations affecting ongoing cases.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should:
- Be admitted to the California State Bar.
- Possess strong legal writing skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Show proficiency in legal research tools like Lexis-Nexis.
- Demonstrate excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Be able to manage multiple cases concurrently while meeting deadlines.
