The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Penn State Health is a 12-bed critical care unit with private rooms, dedicated to providing exceptional care to adult patients with cardiothoracic and cardiovascular-related medical and surgical conditions.
The CVICU is a dynamic and fast-paced environment where our team of experienced nurses work together to provide individualized care to patients with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities- Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain accurate medical records.
- Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients, including administering medications and monitoring for reactions and side effects.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions, and provide education to patients and their families on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans, and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
- Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by the state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
- BLS certification required prior to orientation completion.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred, with six months of RN experience preferred.
