About the RoleThis 36-hour-per-week position requires expertise in labor, delivery, postpartum, and nursery care. As a skilled nurse, you will work closely with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
Responsibilities:- Perform admitting assessments, review history, and develop individualized plans of care for patients
- Monitor progress of laboring mothers, interpret fetal heart monitors, and notify physicians when necessary
- Prepare birthing rooms for deliveries using sterile technique and assist mothers with pain management techniques
- Assist physicians with cesarean sections, inductions, and other procedures
- Provide immediate post-delivery care to mothers and infants, including vital sign monitoring and medication administration
- Perform post-partum care, educate patients on childcare, breastfeeding, and self-care, and monitor vital signs
- Administer medications, solutions, and treatments per physician orders, display knowledge of medication effects, and operate V/PCA pumps correctly
- Initiate and maintain IV and oxygen therapy on infants under physician direction
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification (basic, intermediate, advanced)
- NRP, BLS, and S.T.A.B.L.E. certifications
- Experience in labor, delivery, postpartum, and nursery care
- Knowledge of principles and practices of sterile technique and infection control
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and demonstrate excellent communication skills
- An estimated salary of $120,000 per year
