About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a Pediatric Physical Therapist, you will play a vital role in evaluating and treating patients with physical therapy needs, providing optimal function and independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental and/or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating patient and family needs, and provide therapeutic treatment to patients with functional deficits.
  • Fabricate, recommend, or provide orthotics to maintain functional body joint positions and improve functional mobility.
  • Educate parents on their child's goals and therapy plan, instruct patients and parents on therapeutic activities to follow while at home, and document instruction and ongoing compliance.
  • Communicate patient's status and collaborate with physicians, third-party payers, and relevant healthcare providers.
  • Maintain administrative functions of individual caseload, including scheduling patients for treatment, entering daily patient charges, and submitting timely documentation to appropriate parties.
  • Recommend and secure patient referrals to community agencies to ensure patient continues to receive needed and appropriate services after discharge.
  • Conduct formal and informal Physical Therapy educational programs for the hospital staff, students, and community.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in physical therapy or higher; State of Ohio Licensure.
  • Previous physical therapy work experience in a pediatric setting preferred or clinical affiliation in the area of pediatrics.
  • CPR certification must be received no later than 60 days post hire or 60 days post expiration.
  • State of Ohio PT Licensure, required.

  • OCCASIONALLY: 1-33% OF THE TIME (0.5 TO 2.5 HOURS) Climb stairs/Ladders, Driving required, Lifting/carrying up to 60 lbs., Pushing/pulling up to 60 lbs., Exposed to fumes/gases/ vapors, Exposed to biohazard waste, Working outdoors, Working in hot/cold temperatures.
  • FREQUENTLY: 34-66% OF THE TIME (2.6 TO 5.0 HOURS) Bend/twist, Squat/Kneel, Use of Computer skills, Lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs., Pushing/pulling up to 40 lbs., Exposed to blood and/or bodily Fluids, Exposed to communicable diseases and/or pathogens, Exposed to chemicals and/or medications, Use of patient equipment.
  • CONTINUOUSLY: 67-100% OF THE TIME (5.1 TO 12 HOURS OR GREATER) Standing, Walking, Sitting, Flexing/extending of neck, Reaching above shoulder, Hand usage: grasping, gripping, turning, Repetitive hand/arm usage, Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs., Pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs.
  • CONTINUOUSLY: 67-100% OF THE TIME (5.1 TO 12 HOURS OR GREATER) Audible speech, Hearing acuity, Depth perception, Color Vision, Peripheral vision, Seeing- far/near, Problem solving, Decision making, Interpreting data.
