Process Improvement Engineer

The Process Improvement Engineer will collaborate with fellow engineers, technicians, and maintenance coordinators to develop sustainable asset strategies, operational standards, and work processes while fostering technical expertise within the team.

Key Responsibilities
- Guide Engineers, Supervisors, and Technicians on best practices for pulping operations.
- Train and mentor technicians to ensure reliable equipment and process operation.
- Formulate Asset Strategies for pulping machinery, including Condition Based Monitoring, Preventative Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, and Spare Parts optimization in collaboration with technicians and area engineers.
- Partner with Reliability and Maintenance Coordinators to prioritize repairs and schedule maintenance, enhancing asset reliability and the quality of output.
- Lead the planning and execution of capital projects, including training, commissioning, and start-up phases.
- Assist in identifying and resolving operational issues in the pulp mill, striving for long-term solutions through sustainable practices.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Paper Science Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a continuous manufacturing setting, or 5 years of relevant experience in secondary fiber pulping and screening operations.
- Five or more years of experience in producing tissue, towel, napkin, or printing and writing grades of recycled pulp.
- Familiarity with secondary fiber pulping or virgin fiber equipment.
- Knowledge of reliability practices and experience in initiating and executing capital projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with data management systems such as PI data historian, SAP, or other CMMS.
- Demonstrated leadership in continuous improvement initiatives.
