About the Role

Akumin is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a Nuclear Medicine Imaging Technologist, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care and producing high-quality diagnostic images.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for patient safety, including pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection technique, and radiation safety regulations.
  • Produces high-quality diagnostic images using PET/CT scanners.
  • Effectively communicates with customers and radiologists to ensure accurate diagnoses and treatments.
  • Trains new technologists and PC's to maintain high standards of quality and safety.
  • Troubleshoots scanner, coach, and peripheral equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine by the NMTCB or ARRT (N) required.
  • State license, as required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Valid state driver's license, as applicable.
  • 1-2 years' experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies preferred.
  • Ability to work at multiple locations.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
Physical Requirements
  • May be exposed to outside weather conditions during patient transport.
  • Exposed to radioactive isotopes and ionizing radiation.
  • May be exposed to radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
Working Conditions
  • More than 50% of the time: sitting, standing, walking, repetitive movement of hands, arms, and legs, seeing, speaking, and hearing.
  • Less than 50% of the time: stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, balancing, carrying, and lifting.
