Job Summary:

The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for owning, tracking, and resolving database-related incidents and requests. This includes fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The role also involves reviewing service-related reports on a daily basis to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration
  • Troubleshooting and resolving database problems
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Error identification, analysis, and remediation
  • Assistance with backups, restores, replication, and recovery models
  • SQL reporting and SSIS packages
  • Developing SQL Jobs for data exports, data purges, error monitoring, and investigate/resolve job failures
  • Performing High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server, including database clustering and log shipping
  • Implementing operational automation using scripts
  • Use of indexes, index management, and statistics
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field preferred
  • 7+ years IT operations with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
  • 7+ years Microsoft SQL Server experience
  • An understanding of, and experience with, server-client computing and relational database environments
  • Experience with data management and data processing techniques
  • Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices
  • Application development experience in one or more of the following technologies: MS Commerce Server, Content Management Systems,.NET, AJAX, and jQuery
  • Be an active member of the application deployment team and periodically responsible for deploying code to Test, UAT, or production
  • Experience working in an enterprise-level eCommerce environment
  • Involvement with the MS SQL Server Community; active in forums or newsgroups

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
Working Conditions:

Occasional travel to clients for meetings and onsite work
