Job Overview

About MEPS

The Medical Expenditure Panel Survey is a study of healthcare costs and usage in the United States. Sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, it's a part-time, non-exempt position with opportunities for paid vacation and holiday leave, sick leave, and 401(k) participation. Work with a reliable, self-starter individual who can meet physical demands of the job, including lifting 20 pounds and climbing stairs. Have access to a fully insured, reliable vehicle and valid driver's license. Benefits include eligibility for health insurance and an HSA after working 1,560 hours within a specified timeframe. This federal government project adheres to the Service Contract Act (SCA), with hourly pay determined by location. The estimated salary for this position is $40,000 - $60,000 per year.

Key Responsibilities

This Data Collection Specialist role involves contacting households, setting up appointments, conducting in-person interviews using a Westat-provided laptop computer, and collecting electronically signed documents. Utilize MS Teams or Zoom for candidate interviews. Be available to travel locally and potentially overnight as needed. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data security requirements throughout the assignment. Required qualifications include being at least 18 years old, able to enter binding confidentiality agreements, and possessing consistent access to a reliable vehicle with a current, valid driver's license. Preferred criteria include public contact experience, cold calling experience, and comfort working in unfamiliar locations.
