Job Summary

As a Theoretical Simulation Techniques Engineer at the John F. Kennedy Space Center, you will serve as a Technical Expert responsible for providing professional engineering expertise on assigned systems and operations such as Uncrewed Lunar Surface Systems and Moon-to-Mars Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Direct or manage theoretical simulation programs of national or international scope, including the development or design of large, new, and unusually complex systems that result in major advancements in the state-of-the-art of broad technologies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on theoretical simulation systems requirements of assigned projects such as Uncrewed Lunar Surface Systems (LSS) and Moon-to-Mars (M2M) Operations and Support efforts.
  • Develop and demonstrate plans for the Uncrewed Lunar Surface Systems (LSS) and Moon-to-Mars (M2M) Operations and Support efforts and other assigned systems or projects.
  • Provide decision-making functions and engineering expertise in the formulation and implementation plans developed by the Lunar Architecture Team (LAT) and the Mars Architecture Team (MAT) and other programmatic teams and efforts.
  • Serve as an expert consultant in the resolution of the most challenging aerospace engineering problems on projects of national or international scope and impact.
Requirements

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement, to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions, which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work.

To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level.

Your resume must include a clear and detailed narrative description, in your own words, of how you meet the required specialized experience.

NASA prohibits the use of artificial intelligence (AI) or AI-assisted tools in drafting application and assessment responses.
