Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemist II/III to join our research and development team at Wacker Chemical Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for project-based lab developments, testing, and analysis of defoamer products and formulations for various industries, with a primary focus on pulp and paper applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement new product formulations and testing protocols to meet customer requirements.
  • Support production and quality teams by providing expertise on new product scale-up, customer complaints, and quality issues.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to provide technical support, including sample requests, shelf-life extensions, and scrap requests.
  • Maintain a professional lab environment, including setup and maintenance of testing equipment and upgrading the lab as needed.
  • Travel up to 30% for customer visits and attending conferences/trade shows.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in organic or polymer chemistry; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of lab synthesis and formulation experience, with skills in organic and polymer synthesis.
  • Basic knowledge of analytical tools, including NMR, GC-MS, SEC, AFM, and particle size analyzer.
  • Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities, with the ability to analyze technical issues and find solutions independently or with limited instruction.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills, with the ability to summarize lab experiments and data into precise reports and presentations.
  • Strong work ethic and self-drive attitude, with a commitment to high standards.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
