Position: Electrical Technician Trainee
Work Schedule: 6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, with a weekly on-call rotation
ROLE OBJECTIVE:
The Electrical Technician Trainee will assist in all facets of diagnosing issues, outages, and repairing electrical systems under the guidance of a qualified electrician. The primary aim is to ensure the establishment and maintenance of efficient electrical connections to reduce the risk of incidents and enhance the functionality of electrical systems across all facilities.
Additional Responsibilities Under the Supervision of the Electrician:
- Implement electrical wiring plans for effective lighting, intercom, and various electrical systems
- Install electrical devices, fixtures, and equipment for alarm and other systems
- Set up safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels, etc.)
- Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks, ensuring component compatibility
- Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
- Prevent system failures by routinely inspecting and replacing outdated wiring and insulated cables, and cleaning circuits
- Conduct thorough troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or replace damaged units
- Participate in monthly safety meetings
- Understand and adhere to all SQF and FSMA policies
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Ability to complete training as directed by the supervising Electrician
- Potential requirement for additional courses and ongoing education
- Experience with industrial and/or commercial electrical systems
- Learning to troubleshoot PLC programming
- Running conduits and calculating appropriate load sizing
- Proven ability to utilize electrical and hand tools (e.g., wire strippers, voltmeter, etc.) and interpret electrical drawings and blueprints
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
EDUCATION / EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must pass random drug screening tests
- Must be at least 18 years of age
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
- Maintain steady hand and arm movements
- Ability to detect when something is wrong or likely to go wrong
- Quickly and repeatedly adjust machine controls to precise positions
- Swiftly move hands or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
- Work collaboratively with all members of Purefield Ingredients in a professional and respectful manner
The employee may be required to lift up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this position, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, climb, and bend. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision. Specific hearing abilities are also necessary.
Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Hard hats and protective eyewear are mandatory within and around processing facilities. Hearing protection is required in areas where noise levels exceed 85 dB. Uniforms are provided by Purefield Ingredients. Steel-toe leather boots are necessary. Additional PPE is required when handling hazardous materials and in certain areas of the facilities.
Clear communication skills are essential, including the ability to speak and listen effectively. Fine visual acuity is required for accuracy in reading.
