Job Summary

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (PRN) to provide clinical nursing care for children enrolled in local KIDS FIRST clinics. As a PRN, you will act as a clinical resource for clinic staff and implement the nursing process to manage patient care problems of a complex and changing nature.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical nursing care for children enrolled in local KIDS FIRST clinics
  • Act as a clinical resource for clinic staff
  • Implement the nursing process to manage patient care problems of a complex and changing nature
  • Administer medications and treatments and perform procedures according to UAMS and KIDS FIRST policies
  • Evaluate children to identify signs of illness or injury and intervene appropriately
  • Maintain current and accurate records and ensure confidentiality
  • Integrate and share knowledge related to clinical practice
  • Teaching/learning needs of patients and families are identified, addressed, and documented
  • Act as a resource for staff in the areas of health, safety, and infection control
  • Assume responsibility for acquiring knowledge and experience to meet professional goals
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with clinic director, Medical Director, nursing managers, clinic nurse and other team members
  • Actively work with contacts to coordinate care and promote referrals to program
  • Collaborate with KIDS FIRST staff, PCPs, UAMS resources and others to implement and revise plan of care as needed
  • Provide employment documentation such as annual TB screening, CPR /nursing license renewal verification, etc. promptly
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing
  • Valid RN License
  • Minimum of 2 years Registered Nursing experience or 2 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong work ethics and accountability
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN or MSN with three (3) or more years nursing experience
  • Pediatric Care experience
  • Current BLS
