Postpartum Nurse

As a Postpartum Nurse at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to new mothers and their babies. Under general supervision, you will use your clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems.
You will be responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients and coordinating nurses care activities with other health care disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs, and discharge planning needs.
- Identify deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassess patients throughout hospitalization.
- Develop an individual nursing plan of care that is sensitive to the developmental needs of the patient.
- Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments and community agencies.
- Develop patient teaching plans and document on care plans or teaching plans.
- Delegate patient care activities based on patients condition and scope of practice of other health care providers.
- Establish priorities for patient care and classify acuity level of assigned patients.
Requirements:
- Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience.
- 1 year recent experience, within the last 3 years, in postpartum/newborn/LDRP setting.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program required at hire.
- Basic Life Support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous health care experience.
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field.

- Computer keyboarding skills.
