Electrical Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Specialist to join our team at the Town of Queen Creek, AZ. As an Electrical Specialist, you will be responsible for performing electrical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the Town's water systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, repair, install, program, and calibrate equipment, systems, or repair, maintenance, and testing of assigned operations.
- Prepare reports and documentation on work progress, proposed changes, activities, and findings.
- Monitor inventory levels; order and purchase required supplies and materials.
- Respond to and resolve complaints or issues.
- Monitor equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety.
- Perform general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable condition.
- Oversee the day-to-day work orders which may include assembling, installing, repairing, replacing, relocating, testing, maintaining, and/or investigating a variety of equipment, fixtures, and delivery systems.
- Manage the operations of a variety of routine services including the valve exercise program, hydro excavating, camera pipes, Jetting, flushing program, and preventative maintenance program, and/or other maintenance and repair activities.
- Conduct site inspections; maintain written work records, including complaint resolution, maintenance, and repair logs, flow records, and daily work logs.
- Perform various tasks associated with installation, maintenance, and reading of water meters: coordinate meter reading activities, distribute route sheets, and assign meter installations and change-outs to meter readers.
- Install, repair, and maintain water meters and MXUs; repair underground water lines, meter leaks, water meters, and wires on meter registers and MXUs.
- Replace or change out meters; upload/download meter reading data between portable computer and office computer for billing purposes.
- Read radio-installed meters via computer.
- Perform routine water storage and production facility inspections; monitor pumps, motors, valves, and controls at water storage and production facilities to include dead-head and other efficiency testing on a regular basis.
- Monitor and operate SCADA system; troubleshoot pump, motor, electrical component failures; monitor, maintain, and adjust chlorinators applying proper chemical dosages.
- Maintain facilities to include weed control and other appearance factors; perform repair, maintenance, and replacement on various motors, valves, pumps, and controls.
- Read and record meters; haul chlorine tablets; conduct quality control and safety assurance; water quality sampling and handling.
- Operate, maintain, and repair a variety of hand and/or power tools, trucks, tractors, heavy equipment, pumps, compressors, weed whackers, saws, and/or a variety of other light equipment.
- Respond to emergency situations such as system breaks, overflows, or blockages as needed.
- Maintain written work records, including complaint resolution, maintenance, and repair logs, flow records, and daily work logs.
- Maintain and control inventory including tracking inventory used per work orders and new parts and materials received.
- Follow safety procedures, utilize safety equipment, and monitor work environment; report any concerns in a timely manner.
- Participate in on-call program once fully trained.
- Receive various forms, reports, correspondence, logs, lists, credit card statements, invoices, time sheets, work orders, vehicle records, maps, blueprints, construction drawings, material safety data sheets, operational guides, policies, procedures, standards, regulations, manuals, reference materials.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D., completion of an electrical apprenticeship program, and 3 years of experience as a journey level electrician in an industrial setting (480v / 800 am services).
- Two years of experience in a municipal water or wastewater environment preferred.
- Az Driver's License.
- Az Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade I Water Distribution Systems Operator Certification within 12 months of hire or promotion.
- Proof of completion of an electrical apprenticeship program (required upon hire date).
- In addition to items listed above, an ADEQ Grade II Water Distribution Certification must be obtained within 3 years of hire date.
- Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, materials, and tools used in maintenance, installation, repair, and modification of electrical systems.
- Allen Bradley Integration systems.
- Wonderware Industrial software.
- Variable Frequency Drives.
- Principles and operation of electrical, electronic, and computer control systems.
- Federal OSHA and State and County regulations and Town policies regarding safe work practices.
- Special tools and equipment required for electrical conduit, cable, wire, switch, and pole line systems.
- Customer service principles.
- Water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and/or Irrigation systems.
- Methods, sampling, testing, materials, tools, and standard practices for the installation, maintenance, operation, repair, and inspection of water and waste water distribution/collection systems, irrigation systems, and related equipment.
- Various hand and power tool and equipment operation.
- Various monitoring systems.
- Using computers & laptops and related software applications including Excel, Word, inframap, and ArcGIS.
- Calculating water flows with measuring equipment and by sight as necessary.
- Utility locating.
- Occupational hazards and safe work practices including open trench safety.
- Proficient use of iPad and smartphone.
- Hazards and precautionary methods, voltage, and arc flash hazards, and safety electrical procedures as outlined in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70e.

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of work frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subject to: hazardous physical conditions (mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, gases, and poor ventilation), hazardous materials (chemicals, blood, and body fluids, etc.), extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noise, travel, and environmental dangers (disruptive people, imminent danger, threatening environment).
