Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Transportation Specialist to join our team at Alexandria Public Schools. As a School Bus Driver, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe transportation of students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and other district-sponsored events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform thorough vehicle inspections, safety checks, and maintenance, including refilling fluids, cleaning the bus, and reporting mechanical issues.
  • Transport students safely, maintain order, follow district rules, and report disciplinary issues.
  • Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel, and pre-trip inspections.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of district policies, emergency procedures, and First Aid.
  • Proficiently use emergency equipment and communication tools.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • Capable of working with children and managing student behaviors.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to acquire a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B (training paid by district).
  • Clean driving record, pass background check, pass drug tests.
  • A strong commitment to safety.
