Position Title: Plant Laborer

Position Overview:

EMCOR Government Services is in search of a dedicated Full-Time Laborer for our industrial operations. The primary responsibilities of this role will involve meter reading and supporting various construction and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reading meters accurately
  • Assisting team members with designated construction and maintenance projects
  • Potentially working overtime or varied hours as required for departmental efficiency

Safety Requirements:

This position mandates the consistent use of fall protection equipment, safety harnesses, and 100% tie-off at all times. Candidates who have a fear of heights are advised not to apply.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a construction environment
  • Preferred experience in maintenance and repair within Power Plants

Special Requirements:

  • Must successfully complete training in Confined Space (C & M Division)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with equipment, materials, and practices used in maintenance and repair of Power Plants
  • Understanding of relevant safety regulations and procedures
  • Proficiency in using construction tools and equipment
  • Ability to operate power hand tools safely
  • Capacity to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and supervisors
  • Aptitude for performing manual, semi-skilled, and skilled tasks

Physical and Job Site Requirements:

  • Ability to complete hiring documentation electronically
  • Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Strength and stamina to fulfill the technical duties and essential functions outlined
  • Ability to navigate confined spaces and uneven terrain
  • Full range of motion appropriate for age
  • Proficiency in climbing and maintaining balance on ladders
  • Adequate hearing to respond to voice commands and alarms
  • Visual acuity, depth perception, and color discrimination necessary for working at heights and on uneven surfaces
  • Steel-toed safety shoes are mandatory
