Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Build positive relationships with individuals and their families

  • Maintain a therapeutic environment through various methods, including personal outcome measures, person-centered thinking, and informed decision making

  • Ensure person-centered plans are implemented and documented

  • Complete documentation to ensure compliance and billing

  • Use foundational teaching skills, such as EMOE, task analysis, essential skills, supports, and modifications

  • Ensure health, wellness, and safety by managing crisis situations and providing appropriate supervision

  • Demonstrate a willingness to assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs)

  • Transport and escort individuals on recreational activities, medical appointments, and home visits

  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations

  • Use effective communication and time management skills

  • Be a member of a highly effective team, working collaboratively to support individuals

  • Complete mandatory trainings and apply skills to support individuals

  • Meet and demonstrate OPWDD Core Competencies

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • Work or life experience in the I/DD field is a plus, but not mandatory

  • Ability to complete paid New York State-mandated OPWDD training
