Job Summary:

Amergis is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Support Professional to join our team. As an Instructional Assistant, you will work closely with students requiring instructional and behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follows through with IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, independent skills, and managing behavioral deficits and excesses.
  • Facilitates teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
  • Assists students during general education classes and communicates pertinent information to teachers.
  • Accompanies students during recess and lunch periods, as well as community experiences.
  • Strictly adheres to confidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students, parents, and classroom activities.

Requirements:

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills.
