We are seeking an experienced Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Northwell Health.

Job Overview

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality ultrasound exams for patient diagnosis. You will work closely with clinicians to ensure the appropriateness of studies and perform related administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for ultrasound exams, position them on examination tables according to departmental standard operating procedures, and explain procedures in layman's terms to relieve patient anxiety.
  • Obtain pertinent imaging and diagnostic reports required for correlation with ultrasound exams, consult with referring physicians regarding patient history, and determine appropriate ultrasound exams required.
  • Set up equipment to administer particular exams in a timely fashion, use settings on machines to assure accurate results, and exercise technical judgment.
  • Recognize significance of structures visualized in the oscilloscope, differentiate artifacts from normal or pathologic processes, and determine need for more extensive evaluations beyond preliminary instructions.
  • Observe patients during entire examinations, recognize and report any changes in patient condition or motor abnormality complaints, and maintain records and logs of exams performed.
  • Perform minor repairs, frequent calibration checks, and adjustments of ultrasound equipment, troubleshoot mechanical problems, and perform minor repairs as necessary.
Requirements
  • Vocational or technical school diploma required.
  • Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed (ARMDS in multiple areas).
  • 1-3 years of technical experience required.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association required.
Salary Information

The salary range for this position is $45-$85 per hour. We offer a competitive compensation package that includes benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
