Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Wireless Firmware Test Engineer to join our team at Apple. As a key member of our Wireless Connectivity Silicon team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our innovative wireless silicon for use in Apple's products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Firmware, Radio, MAC, and Systems engineering teams to develop a comprehensive test plan to ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of Apple's wireless silicon and products.
  • Develop and maintain test infrastructure, including continuous integration flows, to support presilicon development and postsilicon validation, system integration, and debugging.
  • Design and develop innovative test methodologies, including manual and automatic test setup/scripts, to publish test reports, collect test logs, and identify first points of test failure/debug.
  • Work closely with the Firmware and QA teams to automate test efforts and develop tools to parse and represent data, automate dashboards, and assist in debugging and reproducing issues.
  • Build and maintain presilicon and postsilicon reference board test setups, as well as production-specific test setups.
  • Develop and maintain firmware test cases and test methodologies.
  • Design and develop innovative solutions to address automation and execution problems.
  • Support the development team in debugging and reproducing issues, working with system QA on bug reproduction, log/statistic collection, and running debug tests with debug firmware builds.
  • Build and maintain test result dashboards and support bug triage meetings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree + 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Silicon firmware test engineer.
  • Experience with the development and execution of automated test and continuous integration frameworks.
  • Experience in FW/SW white box testing, including test plan design, implementation, documentation, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in scripting and debugging in Python, Perl, TCL, C++, or equivalent.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to analyze and investigate test failures, errors, build issues, and drive issues to completion accurately.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and work with multi-functional teams.
  • Understanding of embedded SW fundamentals and low-level hardware interfaces.
  • Ability to collaborate, communicate, and partner effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive, positive, dedicated, inventive, and willing to tackle challenges.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with test methodologies (unit testing, integration testing, performance testing, functional testing, etc).
