About the Role:

Hennepin County's Public Health Clinical Services division is seeking a Senior Psychiatric Social Worker to join the Community Response after Emergency (CORE) team as a crisis therapist. As a community responder, you will provide proactive outreach to residents in the immediate aftermath of a tragic event using trauma-informed interventions, offering psychological first aid and emotional support to individuals and families affected by trauma.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement community resilience-building initiatives, such as workshops, support groups, and educational events.
  • Serve as a resource for community members seeking information and assistance related to trauma response and resilience.
  • Employ flexibility, adaptability, and an openness to learning as this team is new and growing, while working effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Work with the Mental Health Center when not responding to a crisis, providing coverage for conducting diagnostic assessments.
  • Be available to serve as additional staff in Cope during regularly scheduled hours and/or provide coverage for Cope staff during other vacancies.
  • Collaborate and consult with other mental health professionals, case managers, and family members with the appropriate authorization.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or higher in social work or a closely related field, and two or more years of post-master's degree experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting.
  • Qualification as a Mental Health Professional as defined by the Minnesota Mental Health Act.
  • A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation to visit community sites throughout Hennepin County.
  • The ability to work remotely from home, as needed, with reliable and secure internet.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or licensed Psychologist (LP) in the state of Minnesota.
  • Experience providing therapy or crisis services to adults, adolescents, children, and/or their families in their home or other community setting.
  • Knowledge of county and community resources, cultural differences in beliefs and practices relating to mental health, treatment, family structure, and dynamics.
