About the Position

This tenure-track professorship is focused on human genomics, with an emphasis on pangenomics and reference genomics. We seek applicants who possess a strong background in bioinformatics, ethics, and law, with expertise in translating genomic data into new clinical applications.

As a member of our faculty, you will be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally-funded research program, participate in departmental teaching and mentoring missions, and engage with colleagues from various disciplines to address the ethical, social, and legal challenges arising from genomics research.

  • Broad areas of interest include tool implementation and benchmarking, development of new methods, sequence production from new or existing samples, graph genome construction, and bioethics.
  • Clinically active applicants must also be eligible for board certification in the state of California.
Qualifications

We require a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in a relevant field. A strong publication record and evidence of peer-reviewed extramural funding as a principal investigator are essential.

Suitable candidates will have a proven track record of innovative research, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
