Role Summary
The Southern Company is seeking proficient candidates for the role of Multidisciplinary Power Plant Technician. This position involves the operation and maintenance of advanced power generation facilities. The selected individual will be responsible for overseeing, troubleshooting, and repairing various electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical systems associated with power generation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections and assessments of equipment to identify operational conditions and potential hazards.
- Independently manage the operation of power generation systems, ensuring adherence to established protocols for both startup and shutdown procedures.
- Analyze problems, gather relevant data, and draw logical conclusions to facilitate effective decision-making.
- Utilize strong mechanical and electrical skills to troubleshoot and repair equipment efficiently.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of maintenance schedules and operational tasks.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to system inspections, maintenance activities, and equipment specifications.
- Work in diverse environments, including confined spaces and varying temperature conditions, while adhering to safety protocols.
- Support a flexible work schedule, including potential overtime and shift work as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; a 2-Year College/Technical Degree or relevant military training is preferred.
- Experience in power generation systems, particularly combustion turbines or combined cycle operations, is highly desirable.
- Proven industrial maintenance and troubleshooting experience, with a minimum of five years preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work autonomously are essential.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment assessments relevant to the position.
