This is a challenging opportunity to lead the provision of pharmacy services at a detention facility within the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Health Service Corps (IHSC). As a Lead Pharmacist, you will be responsible for managing a team of pharmacists and technicians, providing clinical care services to detainees, and ensuring the effective operation of the pharmacy program.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the pharmacy team in providing clinical care services to detainees, including dispensing prescription medications, conducting medical histories and physical examinations, and developing treatment plans.
- Manage the pharmacy program, including setting goals, objectives, and direction, and ensuring compliance with IHSC policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive medical care to detainees, including developing and implementing treatment plans and providing medication counseling.
- Manage pharmaceutical inventory, including ordering, stocking, and dispensing medications, and conducting monthly inventories of controlled substances.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities, including audits, chart reviews, and development of review criteria.
- Provide temporary duty (TDY) coverage to IHSC staffed facilities and special missions as needed.
- PharmD degree and two years of professional experience as a pharmacist.
- Permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- National Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (NCPS) Certification.
- Expertise in pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, and all management aspects related to the practice of pharmacy in a clinic/infirmary setting.
The position is located in a hazardous duty environment, and the incumbent must be able to work in a stressful and often austere environment without physical limitations.
