This position is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to residents in a skilled nursing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess and develop resident care plans
• Ensure that all nursing care is provided in a private and respectful manner
• Check vital signs, dress wounds, and pass out medications as needed
• Assist with admissions, make rounds with physicians, and start IVs as required
• Listen to residents and their families, address their questions and concerns, and provide accurate and detailed charting of resident progress notes
• Provide assistance to licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) and certified nursing assistants (CNAs)
• Ensure equipment is in good operating order, monitor residents at risk for falls, and collect lab samples as needed
• Abide by all facility policies and procedures, including infection control policies and reporting occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or other hazardous materials
Requirements
• Nursing degree from an accredited school or college
• Valid RN license in good standing
• Valid CPR and BLS card
• Minimum of 1 year of skilled nursing experience preferred
• Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
• Ability to use a computer or tablet to enter resident data
Working Conditions
This position may involve frequent interruptions, working with residents, family, and government agencies, and being requested to work beyond scheduled working hours at times. The employee may be exposed to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoking, or air contaminants, and may be subjected to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. The employee may also be exposed to or handle hazardous chemicals and must be able to move intermittently throughout the day, working throughout the nursing areas, and lift up to 25 pounds. Lifting more weight up to 100 pounds requires assistance.
