NOC Systems Engineer

The University of Maine System is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the daily functions of the Network Operations Center team, working closely with the NOC Coordinator to ensure effective training, mentoring, and operational planning.
The NOC Engineer will engage in various projects that involve the design, installation, maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting of data networks and associated hardware and software, primarily serving K-12 educational institutions and libraries. This role requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including internal departments and external organizations such as the Maine Department of Education and community libraries.

Qualifications
Required:
- Proficient knowledge and experience in managing wide area networks and relevant protocols, including DWDM, Carrier Ethernet, TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS.
- Experience with firewall configurations, including NAT/PAT.
- Understanding of industry-standard network security protocols.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with operating systems, data network protocols, and internet-related applications.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Professional demeanor in phone communications.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
Experience in programming with a high-level language is advantageous.
