Job Summary:

The Bridges of Ankeny is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will provide high-quality nursing care to our residents, promoting their physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the administration of quality nursing care, adhering to resident care plans and established standards.
  • Render nursing care to cater to individual resident needs through recognized nursing techniques, procedures, and established standards.
  • Maintain a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to the best interest and welfare of the resident.
  • Directly influence resident care plans and proactively make adjustments based on resident needs.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care plans.
  • Complete proper charting accurately and completely, and perform other administrative duties related to resident care in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Serve as a leader in the nursing department, influencing CNA's and CMA's in providing care, and work as a member of the care team to maintain optimum resident care standards.
  • Set high standards of excellence for meeting resident needs, build and maintain relationships with residents, communicate with residents in a genuine manner using appropriate verbiage, and establish good rapport with the residents.
  • Assist physicians in rounds and reviews orders, order medications, maintain resident chart, receive and document physician orders, and notify physician and family of incidents or changes in condition of resident.
  • Follow the American Nurse Association's Scope and Standard of Practice to ensure residents, families, and the public that the nursing care they receive is competent and up to date with the latest research.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and privacy, treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect, know and comply with Residents Rights rules, and promptly report all resident grievances to management.
  • Understand and follow established Universal Precaution guidelines, infection control, and safety rules, ensure cleanliness of assigned residents' rooms, display an awareness of cleanliness and proper maintenance at all drug carts/rooms, and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Communicate with family members regarding condition and progress of residents, including in-person and answering of telephone inquiries, taking into account the nature of the information.
  • Requisition necessary supplies to meet unit needs, ensure equipment is in good working order, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalency (required).
  • 1 year of practical nursing experience in a clinical setting or long-term care facility (preferred).
  • Advanced preparation in geriatric care (preferred).
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
  • State of Iowa RN/LPN licensure by the Iowa Board of Nursing (required).
  • CPR Certification (required).
