About the Position:

St. Christopher's School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Upper School Teacher to join our faculty. As a member of our academic community, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds of our students and helping them grow into confident, compassionate, and critically thinking individuals.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning: Teach a full academic course load, including regular, honors, and AP courses, and develop engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Student Advising: Advise a group of students, providing guidance and support to help them navigate academic and personal challenges.
  • Co-Curricular Activities: Coach or lead a significant co-curricular activity, such as a sports team, club, or community service project, to foster teamwork, leadership, and character development.
  • Departmental and Faculty Involvement: Participate in departmental and faculty meetings, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in ongoing professional growth and development.
  • Classroom Environment: Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic excellence, creativity, and social responsibility.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Hold a bachelor's degree in the subject area or a closely related field, with a master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Have a minimum of three years of teaching experience or sustained demonstrated experience working with children.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Possess a thorough knowledge of and passion for teaching the discipline being taught, including an openness and experience in employing inquiry-based instructional methodologies.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Show a commitment to leadership and teamwork, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school community.
