Safe Harbor is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Community Support Specialist. This role is pivotal in managing shelter operations and providing essential support to individuals in need during your scheduled hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary contact for residents, ensuring their needs are addressed and fostering a supportive environment.
- Facilitate intake assessments for new residents, offering advocacy, safety planning, and necessary support services.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention, including responding to urgent calls and adhering to established protocols during emergencies.
- Serve as a liaison for Safe Harbor, collaborating with local organizations to effectively meet the needs of those we serve.
- Conduct regular checks on shelter residents, ensuring safety measures such as door locks and cleanliness are maintained.
- Perform security assessments, including alarm systems and surveillance monitoring.
- Maintain accurate records for survivor documentation and communication logs.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage conflicts and navigate crisis situations effectively.
- Ability to connect positively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including varying ages, ethnicities, and lifestyles.
- Genuine commitment to the mission and values of Safe Harbor.
- Empathetic approach to supporting victims of crime, aimed at minimizing trauma and providing effective crisis intervention.
- Capability to establish and sustain professional relationships within the community.
- Must pass a background check and possess a valid driver's license.
