Chemical Analyst

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Analyst to join our team at Joint Research & Development, Inc. in Indian Head, MD. As a Chemical Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing environmental and air samples for chemical contamination, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, and using Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software for managing analytical data.

Key Responsibilities:

* Analyze environmental and air samples for chemical contamination
* Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including Gas and Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometers, and perform basic maintenance and checks on common laboratory systems
* Use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software for managing analytical data
* Participate in laboratory proficiency testing activities and maintain QA/QC records, including performance charts, control limits, and detection and reporting limits for analytical methods governing use of laboratory instrumentation
* Maintain operator manuals and procedures
* Adhere to laboratory procedures, data management practices, and safety protocols in accordance with Laboratory Quality Assurance Plans and safety policies/regulations

Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or similar from an accredited college or university
* At least 10 years of experience with quantitative analysis of chemical compounds
* Experience with quality management standards, sample preparation methods, techniques, regulations, protocols, safety measures, and the operation and maintenance of chemical laboratory instrumentation
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Project, Word, Access, and Power Point
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
