Environmental Scientist Job Description

Garver is seeking an Environmental Scientist to provide assistance with environmental permitting and the preparation of planning and environmental studies for various infrastructure projects across multiple business lines in our established Rogers or North Little Rock, AR offices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct fieldwork primarily consisting of wetland delineations and habitat assessments, as well as site visits necessary for preparation of stormwater pollution prevention plans.
  • Prepare regulatory permits and approvals in compliance with environmental laws, particularly for Section 404 permitting and NPDES permitting.
  • Prepare technical reports and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the environmental sciences or planning.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with wetland delineations or completion of wetland delineation training, or minimum of 1 year of experience with project development under NEPA.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Availability for occasional overnight travel (generally less than one week).
  • Excellent communication skills and able to work on a collaborative team, both internally and externally.
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficiency with ArcPro and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis and mapping.
  • Established knowledge of State and Federal environmental regulations and guidelines, particularly with regard to Waters of the U.S. and Section 404 permitting.
  • Experience in preparing NEPA documents, particularly with regards to transportation projects.
  • Working knowledge of Microstation, AutoCAD, InRoads, and/or other engineering and design software.
